Before the katana, there was the tachi! The samurai class of feudal Japan carried these swords during the Koto period - before the development of katanas. Designed to be worn with the cutting edge down, our Shinwa Sunset Samurai Tachi Sword has an orange lacquered sheath with an intricately wrapped koshiate (sword hanger). The 28 1/2” blade is hand-forged of 1045 high carbon steel and the wooden handle is traditionally wrapped in brown cord and faux rayskin. The decorative metal alloy tsuba has the appearance of pewter, which is an elegant contrast to the brass habaki. The sheath also has pewter-colored, metal alloy decorative accents, which complement the design of the tsuba. The master swordsmiths of Lonquan use centuries of tradition and experience to hand-forge our Shinwa Tachi Sword to be second to no other!
